Barry Bartlett – Live Sound Tutor

Barry is currently Foh for ‘James’ and singer Tim Booth’s solo work / Foh for ‘The Hoosiers’ / Consultant Sound Designer (Classical repertoire) for The Roundhouse in Camden / Foh engineer for Britannia Row Productions & Entec Sound.

Barry has been involved in the live sound industry for over 30 years and has worked across a wide spectrum of genres: rock & pop, jazz & world, classical, opera, musical theatre, corporate and all points between.

He has worked with most of the major British sound rental companies in senior engineering roles and has mixed an enormous number of concerts for an incredibly diverse range of artists – including Ray Charles, Dead can Dance, Chaka Khan, Tears for Fears, Liza Minnelli and The Good, the Bad & the Queen.

In the classical field, Barry has accumulated a similarly diverse wealth of experience. He has worked with most of the leading UK orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic (Verdi ‘Requiem’ & ‘Alma Mater’ in Westminster Cathedral with the Vatican Choir), London Symphony (with Nancy Griffith on ‘Dust Bowl Symphony’ at The Royal Albert Hall and on tour), City of Birmingham Symphony (Stravinsky ‘Rite of Spring’), with Pete Townshend on ‘Lifehouse’ with the London Chamber Orchestra at Sadler’s Wells, and with Ennio Morricone and the Roma Sinfonietta & Chorus at Hammersmith Apollo in 2006.

In 2007 Barry was commissioned to design and mix ‘Monkey – Journey to the West,’ the contemporary opera with music composed by Damon Albarn. “A ravishing fusion”, it received universal critical acclaim.

Corporate work includes the recent T-Mobile ‘flashmob choir’ TV Ad filmed at Heathrow Terminal 5 and the Commonwealth Games opening & closing ceremonies, Manchester 2002.
