Looking to warm up your sound? Welcome to Analogue Heaven.
We think analogue sounds cool. So do bands like the White Stripes and Franz Ferdinand. As a student at Alchemea you will be guaranteed over 110 hours of individual practical time in our SSL room to practice, record and mix.
In today virtual world it is easy to become lost inside a computer. We believe that it is important for Alchemea students to achieve the confidence to work in a high-end studio environment, which incorporates an analogue console, tape machine and outboard effects and dynamics units. Alchemea's SSL room also includes a MAC G4 running Logic Pro 8 for students wishing to gain extra recording channels or transfer their analogue recordings into the digital domain.
The SSL G series is one of the most popular recording consoles in the world and an industry standard. We feel it is vital that students gain a thorough understanding of the SSL's signal flow and mix system. This is achieved by having unrivalled levels of practical time to record and mix projects.
As a student at Alchemea you will not only have the chance to train your ear but we will also explain the theory behind the differences between the analogue and digital worlds.
EQUIPMENT LIST:
We have just fully refurbished our Otari MTR 90 2" tape machine. Yes we could have probably bought a Pro Tools HD rig for the same cost but we love tape and think our students should have the opportunity to fall in love with it too!
