Course objectives
The course is aimed at beginners (pre and post purchase of a video production setup) and those already with a limited knowledge of video production and editing. It will provide an overview of how a video production facility is setup, look at video standards (jargon) and explain the basics of the video production process. Student will also receive an overview of Apple’s powerful video production software Final Cut Studio 2.

Session 4: 16.30 – 18.00

- Introduction, the basics of video explained.
- Knowing what you are looking at (how T.V.’s work and how they differ from computers).
- Screen sizes and HD explained.
- How T.V’s get their colour.
- Contrast and colour explained.
Session 2: 12.00 – 13.45
- Film and video tape formats explained.
- Setting up your system correctly.
- Do’s and don’ts of the editing process.
- Introduction to Non Linear Editing
Session 3: 14.30 – 16.15
- Overview of all applications and description of workflow from shooting to finished product.
- Overview of delivery mediums (DVD, tape, flash, podcast) and how they work.
- Introduction to Final Cut Studio.
Session 4: 16.30 – 18.00
- Introduction to Final Cut Pro.
- How to import footage, cut together a basic sequence.
- Adding audio.
- Using transitions, filters and text to finish you movie.
