Jonathan Espinosa: Studio Sound Diploma & Pro Tools Lecturer
Alchemea Tutor and top house music producer Jonathan Espinosa has just released his "Suroh" debut album project "Minology". Minology takes the listener on a journey from the beach bars of Ibiza to the dusty back streets of Cairo and is a reflection of Jonathan's Spanish roots and passion for Egyptian mythology.
Minology fuses flamenco guitars and silky smooth vocals with Middle Eastern instruments and percussion to create an intoxicating blend of house and chillout. The sheer sonic quality of Jonathan's debut album is also testament to a music producer and composer at the top of his game.
Suroh "Minology" is also available now from Amazon
Born in Madrid, Jonathan started his career early at the age of 16 and in his formative years, he grew up influenced by the massive 80´s music scene at that time.
Interested in technology, blending sounds, textures, rhythms and ambient electronica, he began making music and performing in different places in Madrid with his first computer playing with just 4 mono tracks of audio.
Passionate about music, Jonathan always wondered how to get that sound that makes the difference. He learned to listen to many styles of music with a producers ear, and started experimenting with machines and software, taught himself to play the keyboard and program synthesizers and finally started to study sound engineering in Madrid.
After graduating, he built his own studio where he started to produce and write tracks with other people and record companies like Edel Music and Aire Music. One of his first hits was “Tiritipaira”, produced under the name of Lyric Freak, released by Aire Music and published by Warner Chappel music. Also, he honed his skills engineering in different recording studios in Madrid.
However, by this time his style was becoming increasingly influenced by house music and the Ibiza scene at the beginning of the 90’s. Indeed, he spent many summers djing and capturing the vibe of the entire music scene in the tiny island.
At this crucial moment in his development, he started to experiment with many musical genres, such as disco, techno, funk, weird electronica and drum & bass, mixing them together. Overall, Jonathan was particularly passionate about creating music with warmth, as well as developing a sound which mixed his modern experimentations with his Balearic and ethnic roots.
This passion led him to take his career further by moving to London where he learned more about sound engineering working working with music identities like Sandy Rivera, Booty Luv, Joy Malcolm (Moby) Tara McDonald (Armand Van Helden) and Fedde Le Grand between many others in the electronica scene. Additionally, Jonathan undertook a complete course of 310M Protools Expert classes and became a Digidesign Protools Certified Instructor.
Jonathan has seen success on both sides of the Atlantic, having had a handful of his tracks hitting the top ten in the Club Breakers and Cool Cuts charts in the UK in 2006 onwards as well as reaching the top 15 of the US dance charts and top 5 in the UK.
He has also been working under the name of Soul Survivors with releases on Ministry of Sound / Hed Kandi and recently finished his long awaited Suroh album which is a rich mixture of styles including flamenco, house and cinematic music.
