Alchemea College of Audio Engineering

Chris has been dabbling with sequencers and samplers since the late 1980’s & set-up a little bedroom studio whilst at University in the mid-1990’s. After passing his Degree in Physics, Maths and Computer Science (during which he studied Interpolation Algorithms, Filter design, Telephone cables and other such goodies), he moved to London to further his Audio Education at Alchemea!

Since then, Chris has been consistently recording and mixing independent artists whilst teaching at Alchemea. Some selected highlights:

1998 recorded and mixed an EP by the Logics, including ex-members of 80's bands Blondie and X-Ray Specs.

2000 he assisted producer Andy Gill on the "This Is This..." album by the Mark Of Cain (BMG Australia) and recorded/mixed a track by Red Hed featured in the film Rage (Metronome).

2001 he worked with Asian artist Shayan (FM Publishing) on a few tracks, recording and mixing songs produced by Mike Hewer and Mike Collins.

2002 he briefly assisted the Crash team (ex-Almighty) on a Rick Guard remix (Decca) and produced a Depeche Mode cover for the Children of Depeche Mode tribute album (released on french label RybSound) under his Concrete Productions name.

2003 Chris took some time out of Alchemea to focus on freelance projects, including building and configuring a production room at Phoenix Studios, Wembley, with producer/remixer Giulio Pierucci and then assisting Giulio on remixes of Used To Be Friends by the Dandy Warhols, the pop/dance chart hit Cinderella by Lemonescent, Some Lovin' by MURK and the european hit Everybody Cha Cha by Jonni, Lauro and Cecil. During this eventful year Chris also recorded a demo for West End musicals singer Christian Billett and co-produced and mixed another song by Shayan, recorded by Mike Ross-Trevor at Sony Music Studios with a 40-piece orchestra (the London Telefilmonic led by Levine Andrade and arranged by Mike Stanley).

2006 Recorded a DVD for French mezzo-soprano Sandra Raoulx.

Since 2004, Chris has been mainly focusing on studio consultancy as well as reviewing the occasional book on Audio Engineering for Focal Press.

Chris is also one of the Directors of Alchemea and became Head of Curriculum in 2005

He is currently promoting his own musical project Concrete (EP1 is available from i-Tunes) and working on new material in the little spare time left!
