Alchemea College Full Time Course Overview
The audio engineering industry is very competitive. It demands the highest levels of professionalism and dedication and in return offers fabulous rewards and great fulfilment to those who succeed in it. Our objective at Alchemea is to enable you to share in those rewards.
We have been producing confident, professional audio engineers for nearly 20 years and are proud of our reputation among the education community and most importantly within the pro-audio industry. We are also Europe’s leading Digidesign Pro School and a leading Apple Authorised Training Centre.
At Alchemea we teach our students a wide range of tangible “real world” skills in the fields of studio sound, live sound and post production. Our facilities are state of the art and we give our students more individual practical time than at any other college. It is this “hands on” exposure that breeds confidence and ultimately makes our graduates so employable. We are committed to not only providing the highest standard of audio training but also supporting our graduates into the workplace.
There are a number of points that distinguish Alchemea from other colleges and courses you may be considering:
State of the art equipment:
ALCHEMEA has excellent studio facilities and equipment that is regularly updated:
Practical learning time: There is no substitute for experience. Studio Sound Diploma students receive on average at least 30 hours of individual practical time every week, and the studios are open and supervised 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. None of our competitors give you this much studio time to practise techniques, master equipment, and build up confidence and experience. Our Live Sound Student’s will gain plenty of real world experience working on shows and events in some of London’s leading live sound venues including our own historic venue “The Fridge” in Brixton.
Quality of education: One of the unique features of Alchemea is that the curriculum was designed by industry professionals. Our full time lecturers are active audio engineers and producers as well as great teachers. We believe it is vital that they practice what they preach.
Audio is a broad area with many areas of specialisation therefore it is impossible for one person to teach everything. Alchemea's full time lecturer’s skills and industry experience therefore lay in differing areas. Students will also benefit from our comprehensive roster of freelance tutors who are working in the industry. Many are high profile producers and engineers who regularly work with big named artists.
On our Studio Sound Diploma we limit the size of our classes to ten, allowing personal attention for each student. Class size is limited to 16 for our Live Sound Diploma. Theory is taught to enhance understanding of equipment operation and audio techniques and to enable students to understand new technology as it appears.
Mobile studio included: Every Studio Sound Diploma student receives an Apple MacBook, Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini (Pro Tools), Rode M3 mic, M-Audio Keyrig 25 midi controller keyboard, cables and pop shield as part of their media pack. We even provide a 1-year free subscription to the excellent Sound on Sound magazine! Live Sound Students receive a “Live Sound Toolkit” which includes steel toes, multitool and torch.
Educational discounts on equipment: As a student at ALCHEMEAyou are able to benefit from the fantastic deals we receive on hardware and software from the leading music tech manufacturers. 40% on Pro Tools LE products and over 60% on Logic Pro. Discounts are also available when buying Cubase, Reason and many other products.
