Course Overview
Ever wondered how your favourite music is made? Think you have what it takes to be a hit producer or are you looking to achieve an ambition to produce your own music? This course aims to provide an overview about how to set up and use a simple music production environment, and explain the basics of the music production process from recording to producing a final CD master. It also aims to provide solid foundations and a path to one of Alchemea’s audio software or weekend production courses.

What’s covered:
- How to set up a basic music production environment.
- An understanding of which audio software is best suited to your personal requirements.
- An overview of basic recording and microphone techniques.
- A fundamental understanding of mixing desk signal flow.
- An overview of basic music mixing techniques including an introduction to compression and time based effects (reverb & delay).
- An introduction to the theoretical principles of sound in relation to the music production process.
- A comprehensive course reference book explaining all the topics covered in the class.
Equipment Used
This course will take place in our state of the art Apple technology classroom. Equipped with Genelec monitoring and projection system every student has access to an Intel iMac workstation loaded with the latest audio software, an Avid MBox Mini and M-Audio MIDI controller keyboard.
Certification
While this course carries no formal certification or academic qualification, you will receive a nice "Alchemea" certificate of completion.
