“There is no way I could have progressed through the ranks, in such a short space of time, with all the very tough competition, without having the skills I acquired at Alchemea. I would recommend to ANYONE who wants to learn about sound engineering, this is the best course in the country probably in Europe, for this field. The school is intimate and friendly and the staff genuinely cares about you and your education, and to top it all off they have some of the latest pro gear that you get to play with, and best of all, a living and breathing SSL.”
John started his career when he signed up for the diploma course at Alchemea, realising that this was the only course that would give him the skills to be a sound engineer in the tough world of the music biz, learning how to operate professional studio gear, and become a speedy protools op under the excellent guidance of the Alchemea staff.
From here, many opportunities arose through the school which started John in the right direction and gave him work experience in the likes of the Pierce Rooms Studios, one of London’s most prestigious mix rooms. From here he went working and whoring his soul to top London recording studios like Strongroom, The Dairy, Miloco as freelance assistant / engineer, John ended up in-house engineer at the Dairy Studios, after management there realised they would benefit from having John in their studios at the controls and twiddling those knobs!
Working alongside some of the country’s top producers such as Steve Dub (Chemical Brothers) Colin Richardson (Funeral For A Friend, Bullet For My Valentine) and Paul Schroeder (Stone Roses, 80′s Matchbox) gives John invaluable technical knowledge and untold tips and tricks in the studio that he works into his own productions. Some of John’s latest credits and projects worked on include The Enemy (Platinum Disc Award), The Sunshine Underground, Bloc Party, Switches, Maxi Jazz, Lou Rhodes (former Lamb vocalist), Slipknot, Cinematics, Ali Love and many more.
